 31:17
31:17 I will then display anger against them and abandon them. I will hide My face from them and they will be [their enemies'] prey.

'Beset by many evils and troubles, they will say, 'It is because my God is no longer with me that these evils have befallen us.'
Vecharah api vo vayom-hahu va'azavtim vehistarti fanay mehem vehayah le'echol umetsa'uhu ra'ot rabot vetsarot ve'amar bayom hahu halo al ki-eyn Elohay bekirbi metsa'uni hara'ot ha'eleh.

Commentary:

hide My face...
Taking away providence and divine protection (Moreh Nevukhim 1:23, 3:51; Ralbag). Or, as a sign of love, as if God cannot bear to see Israel being punished (Baaley Tosafoth; Chizzkuni; Paaneach Razah).

their enemies' prey
(Ibn Ezra). Or, 'devoured' (Septuagint); 'despoiled' (Targum Yonathan); or, 'destroyed' (Ralbag).
