Tsav

BackForward
 8:23
8:23 He slaughtered it, and Moses took some of its blood and placed it on Aaron's right ear lobe, on his right thumb, and on his right big toe.
Vayishchat vayikach Moshe midamo vayiten al-tnuch ozen-Aharon hayemanit ve'al-bohen yado hayemanit ve'al-bohen raglo hayemanit.

Commentary:

ear lobe
See Exodus 29:20. Some say the upper part of the ear (Targum), while others day the lower lobe of the ear (Saadia), or the center of the ear (Sifra; cf. Raavad ad loc.). According to some, the blood was placed on the cartilege just inside of the helix of the ear (Rambam on Negaim 14:9; Yad, Mechuserey Kaparah 5:1). See Leviticus 14:14.
