24:16 God's glory rested on Mount Sinai, and it was covered by the cloud for six days. On the seventh day, He called to Moses from the midst of the cloud.
Vayishkon kvod-Adonay al-har Sinay vayechasehu he'anan sheshet yamim vayikra el-Moshe bayom hashvi'i mitoch he'anan.
24:17 To the Israelites, the appearance of God's glory on the mountain top was like a devouring flame.
Umar'eh kvod Adonay ke'esh ochelet berosh hahar le'eyney beney Yisra'el.



Commentary:

  The mountain (Rashi). Or, 'and Moses was covered' (Ibn Ezra). Both are opinions found in the Talmud (Yoma 4b).
