Zaavan

Son of Etzer. Brother of Bilhan and Akan.

Zebulun

The tenth son of Jacob and the sixth born to him by Leah. He was involved with his brothers in selling Joseph into slavery in Egypt, and was one of the ten sons to be sent to Egypt to buy corn. He settled in Egypt with his three sons, Sered, Elon, and Yachle'el. On his deathbed, Jacob blessed his children and said 'Zebulun shall settle the seashores; he will be a harbour for ships; his border shall reach Sidon (Genesis 49:13). Ancestor of the tribe of that name.

Zerach

1. Son of Judah by his daughter-in-law Tamar; twin brother of Peretz (Genesis 38:30).
2. Son of Reuel and grandson of Esau. Brother of Nachath, Shamah and Mizzah.

Zikhri

Descendant of Jacob. Son of Yitzhar and brother of Korach and Nefeg.

Zilpah

The maid-servant of Jacob's wife Leah and the mother of Jacob's sons Gad and Asher (Genesis 29-30, 37).

Zimran

Son of Abraham and Keturah. Brother of Yakshan, Medan, Midian, Yishbak and Shuach.

Zimri

A leader of the tribe of Simeon, killed by Pinchas for bringing a Midianite woman into his tent in front of Moses and the people of Israel (Numbers 25:14).

Zuzim

A race of giants, defeated by Chedorlaomer in Genesis 14:5, also known as the Zamzumim (Deuteronomy 2:20). They are referred to as the Rephaim by the Ammonites.
